Privacy policy
Last updated – October 2026
This privacy policy applies to the website www.lebonmot.app, the apps “Learn French Easy – Le Bon Mot” (iOS, Android) and “Learn Spanish Easy – Le Bon Mot” (Android), and the book “Learn French – Interactive Beginner A1” on Apple Books. The German version is legally binding.
In short: our apps need no account, show no ads, and we do not sell data. What is processed anyway is listed below.

This website
Server log files
The website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. For every request the web server automatically stores the IP address, date and time, the requested address, the amount of data transferred, the previous page (referrer), and the browser and operating system. We use this data only to run the website securely and reliably and to fend off attacks (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). ALL-INKL processes this data on our behalf under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. The log files are deleted automatically after a short period.
No cookies, no analytics
The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking tools. Fonts, images, store badges and audio files are served from our own server; visiting the site sends no data to Google, Apple or other third parties – unless you play the video (see below). Only when you follow a link to the App Store, Google Play or Apple Books do you leave our website, and the privacy policies of those providers apply.
To show you the right store and device frame, and to show visitors from Austria our courses in Vienna, a small script in your browser checks your operating system, language and time zone. This information never leaves your browser.
Video (YouTube)
On the home page we show our trailer, which is hosted on YouTube. As long as you do not play it, you only see a preview image from our own server, and YouTube learns nothing about your visit.
Only when you click “Play video” does your browser load the YouTube player (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). We embed it in privacy-enhanced mode via youtube-nocookie.com. Google then receives in particular your IP address, information about your browser and device, and the address of our page. YouTube may also store data on your device, for example in the browser’s local storage, to control playback, keep statistics and prevent abuse. If you are signed in to Google, Google may link the view to your account. Without JavaScript the click opens the video directly on youtube.com.
The legal basis is the consent you give by clicking (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021). It applies to that one view only; if you do not play the video, no data is transferred. You can delete data stored by YouTube in your browser. Google may also process data in the USA; Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Details are in Google’s privacy policy.
Contact by e-mail
When you write to us, we process your e-mail address and your message to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). We delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed and no statutory retention period applies.
The apps
No registration, no ads
The apps work without an account and without signing in. We show no ads and use no advertising IDs. Your progress (stars, achievements, settings) is stored on your device.
Sync and backup
- iPhone and iPad: your progress is synced between your devices through iCloud (key-value storage). The data is stored in your iCloud account at Apple; we have no access to it.
- Android: your progress can be backed up to your Google account through Android backup, if you have turned it on in your device settings. We have no access to it either.
Purchases and subscriptions
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play). We do not receive any payment details. The app only receives from the store the information which content is unlocked. The legal basis is the performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Game Center and Google Play Games
If you use Game Center (iOS) or Google Play Games (Android), your achievements and leaderboard entries are sent to Apple or Google and linked to your player profile there. You can use the apps without these services.
Usage statistics and crash reports (Firebase)
To improve the apps and fix errors we use services by Firebase (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland):
- Firebase Analytics: pseudonymous usage statistics, for example which parts of the app are opened (such as “grammar opened”, “quiz started”). This involves a random app instance ID, device type, operating system, app version, language and approximate country. Your device’s advertising ID is not used.
- Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports with device type, operating system, app version, time and a technical error log.
- Firebase Performance Monitoring: technical measurements such as start-up and loading times.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in stable and improved apps (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Google may also process data in the USA; Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The data is deleted automatically according to the retention periods set in Firebase.
Speaking practice (from version 27, iOS)
For speaking practice the app needs access to the microphone and to Apple’s speech recognition. It asks for your permission first, and you can withdraw it at any time in the settings. Your recording is processed by Apple’s speech recognition – depending on the device, on the device itself or on Apple’s servers. We do not receive or store any recordings.
Downloading content
The Android app downloads purchased lesson content from our server www.lebonmot.app. This creates the server log files described above.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, to data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Just write to support@lebonmot.app.
You can also lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority: Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at.
Changes
We update this privacy policy when the apps or the website change. The version published here applies.
